Pierre Lapointe
Chairman, Technical Advisory Board
Pierre Lapointe was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FPInnovations from 2008 to 2017. Under Pierre’s direction, FPInnovations became the cornerstone of innovation in the forest sector in Canada, and helped support the forest industry in major projects, from the construction of the world’s first nanocrystalline cellulose demonstration plant, in addition to the implementation of the world’s first cellulose filament demonstration plant, and the creation of a K-lignin extraction plant. As Chairman of the Board of NanoQuébec, Pierre Lapointe directed the merger of NanoQuébec and Consortium Innovation Polymères (CIP) into one single entity. The new organization, named PRIMA QUÉBEC – an advanced materials research and innovation hub – ensures that research projects and activities related to the advanced materials sector are carried out. He has also served as Chairman of PRIMA QUÉBEC’s Board of Directors for the past five years. He is also Council member of Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC).
