FACILITIES
Pilot Plant Area
BCRI’s Innovation and Commercialization Center is a sophisticated facility with infrastructure for testing and fast prototyping capabilities at different scales as well as modelling. Our facilities allow for development, assembly and operation of sophisticated pilot and demonstration plants using real chemicals, with real industrial feedstocks, and operate at relevant process temperatures and pressures. Our facilities can benefit from the following existing infrastructure:
- Fully staffed fabrication/assembly shop and onsite pilot support team with welding, machining, CNC and other capabilities onsite.
- Electrical:
– Own transformer.
– AC Power: Up to 1 MW as 3 Ph 1200 A / 600 V.
– DC Power: Up to 8000 A / 24V DC.
- Utilities at experimental testing locations: Natural gas / 10 bar(g) steam boiler, cooling water, chilled water, compressed/dry air, air blower, etc.
- Flue gas conditioning system (up to 1 ton per day of CO2 and impurity dosing system to simulate different types of combustion).
- Docking stations to allow for assembly and testing of pilot plants.
- Welding and machining capabilities in both metals and non-metals for fast prototype development and design iteration.
- Long term test rig for corrosion and materials compatibility testing.
